We've been through Hurricane Irene and all went rather well during the storm with one major exception - we lost power even before the storm hit Connecticut. The hurricane hit our State and gusted, it huffed and puffed, and it dropped heaps of rain. Even though our area has a lot of lakes and ponds, it is not prone to flooding so we were spared any water damage. The wind, on the other hand, played havoc with the trees in our area. I realize parts of Connecticut had water damage and also wind damage.
